You can easily access good, family-friendly pubs, tea rooms, and restaurants from Covenanters Cottage. 

It's just a short walk to the Kenbridge Hotel, where delicious meals can be enjoyed overlooking the River Ken. In nearby New Galloway you'll find The CatStrand with a very nice cafe and gift shop or pop next door toThe Smithy, a great place to visit for a delicious food or afternoon tea. In St. John's Town of Dalry, a stone's throw from Covenanters Cottage, you'll find The Clachan Inn, which has an attractive and inviting bar (pictured above) and high quality restaurant. 

Further afield, along an extremely scenic road you can follow in the footsteps of Scotland's bard Robert Burns in The George, in Moniaive  or try one of the other restaurants in this beautiful village.  Alternatively you could eat in the sunny surroundings of the bistro in Kirkcudbright's Selkirk Arms.  If a pint-of-prawns by the sea is more your style, then the Anchor Inn at Kippford overlooking the Nith's estuary is the place to go.  Meanwhile Castle Douglas - Food Town has a host of cafes, restaurants and pubs.
